How to Read a Certificate of Analysis (COA)
Share
A Certificate of Analysis, or COA, is a lab report that shows what's in a product. Royal Remedies gummies are tested by an independent third-party lab. Here's how to read the results.
1. Match the batch number
Find the batch or lot number on your jar and make sure it matches the number on the COA. A COA only describes the batch it was tested on.
2. Check the lab and the date
The report should name the testing lab, show its accreditation (look for ISO/IEC 17025) and include the date the sample was tested.
3. Read the cannabinoid profile
This section lists each cannabinoid the lab measured and how much it found, usually in milligrams per unit, milligrams per gram and percent. "ND" means not detected.
4. Look for safety testing
Some COAs also include results for heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents and microbials, either for the finished product or for the hemp extract used to make it. You want to see a "pass" or results below the listed limits.
